School profile

Overport Primary School is located in Frankston, approximately 50 kilometres south of Melbourne. The school opened in 1957. The school’s current enrolment of 381 children is housed amid extensive attractive grounds. Nineteen classrooms exist in two light timber construction wings.  An Information, Communication and Technology Centre includes a library and keyboard Laboratory.  The school also has an additional free standing Music Room, Canteen, Art/Craft Room, Library, Hall and Garden Shed. Large attractive grounds are well resourced and maintained by a positive and active School Council.  Overport is a SFO 0.53 school, following an increase in EMA families and in the NESB families. The school is in the second year of its Strategic Plan and has as strong focus on ICT, Literacy and Numeracy as well as student welfare.

Overport Primary School is attracting students from beyond the immediate area due to the school programs and features that the school offers. To maintain the school’s current population the marketing of these features is part of our long term plans.  Many families move into the area when their children are in grades 5 and 6 to unitize the close proximity of Frankston High School.  This affects the numbers of students in the upper grades significantly.
