Library
Overport Primary School Library
The Library is located at the northern end of the school buildings adjacent to the Art Room. Our Library was refurbished in 2008. This included the purchase of lots of new books, DVDs and CDs as well as new tables and chairs for the students and a couch and cushions to relax on when reading and chatting with friends.
The students have a 40 minute Library session each week with a qualified Librarian. They complete activities to develop research skills, author studies, as well as reading and borrowing books to reading the classroom and at home. They also visit the Library during lunchtimes and for activities with their classroom teachers.

We started Term3 with Space activities to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the First Landing on the Moon.
We have also been looking at the books selected by the Children’s Book Council for ‘Book of the Year’ in various categories.
We started off the term by going on an African Safari and looked at books related to that country and especially the animals found there. Then we moved back to Australia and compared our animals to those in Africa.
We have read the short-listed books and had fun doing activities related to the books.
