O.S.C.A
Overport School Community Association
Who we are and what we do
O.S.C.A. is made up of a team of dedicated, hard working and very sociable parents and friends, who, as individuals, spend varying amounts of time in fundraising and school community activities such as:
Movie Nights, Trivia Night, Mother’s & Father’s Day and Christmas Stalls, Raffles, Free Dress Days, Chocolate Drive, Sausage Sizzles, Ritchies Community Benefit Card, Special Events and the OSCA Newsletter.
Each year OSCA raises funds, which is forward to the School Council in order that they may provide our children with the best learning environment.
Of course the State Government provides funding for the school’s priorities which are outlined in the Strategic Plan, but as with other organisations, this is not enough to cover all the essential needs. Money raised from OSCA is gratefully received by School Council and funds vital resources to provide the best opportunities for our childrne's education.
The wider the curriculum our children can enjoy, the better. Good education is the key to life’s chances and the stepping-stone for opportunity and success-SUCCESS FOR ALL. Learn in a happy and relaxed atmosphere with a wide range of activities helps children to be happy, contented individuals; something we all wish for our children.
We have our own OSCA room in which we organise our activities, hold Mother’s and Father’s Day Stalls and meet each Tuesday for a "Mother's and Munchkins" morning tea.
The community and welfare side of OSCA involves Sick Bay, Lost Property, Spare Clothing, Local Community Hampers, School Ground Environment, etc. As you can imagine, we are busy people at OSCA and we need more people to join us!!
Please be assured, that although the reason for our activities is serious, we are out to have as much fun as possible while achieving our goals. That’s why we try to choose fundraisers that will appeal and be helpful to most families. This year our focus is on the first Trivia Night which will be held in our school hall on 20th June.
