Overport Primary School - Success For All.

      Our Mission
Overport Primary School is an inclusive and welcoming community dedicated to providing engaging and challenging opportunities that enable every student to reach their full potential as lifelong learners.

Located in Frankston, Overport enjoys an outstanding reputation in both the local and wider community, reflected in our steady enrolment growth to our current 700 students. Our highly professional team consists of a principal, two assistant principals, 45 teaching staff, and 18 education support staff.

We deliver classroom programs tailored to individual needs, enriched by specialist areas including Health and Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Technology, and LOTE (Japanese). We also offer literacy and numeracy intervention programs—LEAP (Literacy Enrichment Assistance Program), Literacy Tutoring, and MAP (Mathematics Assistance Program).

Our teachers work collaboratively, planning in strong teams and sharing expertise across year levels. As we complete the final year of our Strategic Plan, with a focus on building teacher capacity and enhancing curriculum delivery, we look forward to undertaking a school review to set our next four-year goals.

A recent major building program has resulted in modern, flexible learning spaces that encourage innovative teaching. Our facilities include a multipurpose hall, library, Visual Arts centre, Performing Arts centre, LOTE room, and computer hub. We offer Out of School Hours Care through “Extend.”

Technology is integrated across the school with interactive televisions in all classrooms, iPads, laptops, and an upgraded ICT infrastructure supported by a rolling lease program. This ensures every student has access to the digital tools they need for learning.

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities including a senior school production, end-of-year concert, Wellbeing Weeks, Footy Day, House Athletics, Japanese Week, Book Week, camps, excursions, and swimming and water safety programs. Students can also take private music lessons in keyboard, woodwind, brass, guitar, and drums, and enjoy access to the library at lunchtime.

Our School Council is highly active, supporting curriculum initiatives, fundraising, community events, and the maintenance of our school grounds. Parents are encouraged to participate in classroom programs, fundraising, sports, and excursions. Our vegetable garden fosters environmental awareness, sustainability, and the value of growing and harvesting food.

Wellbeing is central to our school culture. We use Restorative Practices to build social competencies and promote the Resilience Project’s GEM principles—Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness. Our school values--Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner—provide a consistent, explicit framework for behaviour expectations.

We welcome families to our whole-school assemblies, held regularly on the basketball court, where we celebrate student achievements, acknowledge the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, sing the National Anthem and school song, and recite our school pledge.
I promise to do my best
for my country Australia,
for my school Overport,
and to help other people at all times.
