Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to term 2. I trust that everyone had time to rest and enjoy Easter and the term break. On Thursday we are holding our Anzac Ceremony at 9.15 am. This year Anne Connan from Mornington Legacy is attending to present our school with a Lone Pine. This is to recognise how Overport Primary Schools acknowledges the Anzac and their sacrifices for Australia. We are extremely proud that Overport has been recognised in this way. Our year 6 leaders will discuss and decide on an appropriate place for the Lone Pine to be planted. We will continue to show our deep appreciation for the Anzacs. Students will be adding the poppies along our front fence on Friday afternoon. As the weather prediction is for an 80% chance of rain on Thursday, we have decided to move this to the hall. Unfortunately, this means that parents intending to view the ceremony are unable to join us, but we will live stream the ceremony for you. We would still like to extend the invitation to our service personnel, who can join us at the front of the assembly. On Friday we had planned for our Cross Country to take place. At this stage we may need to postpone it if the weather is also inclement. However, children can still wear house colours as outlined in the communications from Mr Bryant. We will make the decision on this early in the morning. Kind Regards, Julie Gleeson Principal Overport Primary School |
