Performing and Visual Arts
Performing Arts
Overport Primary School’s unique music program offers opportunities for children to learn a variety of instruments whilst participating in singing and
movement games and activities for 50 minutes each week. We also offer private parent funded instrumental lessons on guitar, drums, brass and
woodwind instruments. Each year our 4-6 school production at the Frankston Arts Centre is a highlight of the school year and is a great opportunity for
students to sing and act in front of large audiences! Our yearly Christmas concert also helps bring our community together for a fun filled night of
musical entertainment.
Visual Arts
We have a purpose-built art room with ample space and resources. Every grade has a 50 minute lesson each week. Children are encouraged to work
independently or in groups creating art works with their own individual flair. They are taught skills in each of the areas covered including threads and
textiles, construction, drawing, painting clay work and modelling. We are also lucky to participate in free workshops held at our school through Bunnings
Frankston. Topics vary throughout the year and are often linked to Inquiry units covered in the classroom.
