At Overport Primary School our highest priority is your children!
We are keen to give your child the best start!

Overport Primary School has an outstanding reputation within our community and offers
engaging learning opportunities for your child’s development. We understand that each child
is a unique individual and deserves the opportunity to flourish and meet their full potential.
Our professional staff delivers engaging and inspiring curriculum programs to enrich each
child’s education. They not only rejoice at the students’ achievements but encourage and
support their efforts. Our curriculum programs are supported by a broad range of specialist
areas: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Japanese, Health and Physical Education and
Technology. Our Library is student focused and offers a central focus for literacy and inquiry
to all students.

Teachers have a strong focus on developing positive relationships to promote school
connectedness for all students and have a genuine fondness for the children in their care.
We believe that all children have the right to be protected within our environment. We
promote wellbeing through a nurturing setting with clear expectations and embed all child
safe standards. Our school encourages inclusion and tolerance and supports the democratic
principles of Australia. Our Vision and Values can be found at the following link.
Overport’ s building design is unique. It has a semi-open plan style environment that offers
opportunities for students to develop independence, make connections with a broad range of
other students and staff as well as working in a calm, air-conditioned, attractive setting.  Our
senior students are housed in the “Towerhill Learning Centre” which comprises eight learning
spaces, Computer lab and open plan areas. This environment supports explicit teaching as
well as many opportunities for our students to set personal learning goals with their teachers,
therefore, having ownership of their own learning. Our preps are housed in a flexible learning
area in the “Summit Learning Centre”. The “Summit Learning Centre” and the “Bayview
Learning Centre” offer open yet flexible spaces for a range of teaching to suit all students’
needs. This provides an opportunity for the students to develop relationships with the prep
team members as well as their own class teacher. Our middle school is housed in the
“Hakea Learning Centre” which encompass our attractive portables.

These classroom learning spaces are complemented by our beautiful state of the art Library,
as well as our Visual Arts area, our Japanese Learning area, our Performing Arts rooms, and
our STEM program, which comprises ‘Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics’
as well as digital technology. The students have access to a large range of multimedia
equipment including iPads, laptops, and a computer lab. All our air-conditioned classes
have interactive televisions. Our children undertake Health and Physical Education each
week as well as a weekly sporting session with the level. Our senior students are involved in
interschool sports program with other local schools.

Our Environmental Leaders work alongside the STEM program which has a focus on re-
wilding the school grounds. This collaboration allows us to teach and embrace
environmental awareness, offer students and school community ownership through a range
of related garden areas such as our beautiful Indigenous Garden, Japanese garden and
newest native garden beds. Through engagement in our vegetable gardening program, we
promote sustainability approaches and a focus to further beautify the school support an
engaging environment for our students.
We have a fantastic community spirit where parents and teachers work together in our family
centred environment. Our School Council oversees and guides school spending and
governance. Our wonderful Parent and Friends Club undertakes a range of fundraising
programs for targeted needs with the school and across the school such as ground
development and supporting classroom.
