Student Voice Leaders

Our Student Voice Leaders are respected students who demonstrate our school values daily and regularly assist their peers. We currently have 2 students from in each year level from prep to year 5 who support our year 6 student leaders. These students assist with organising school events, fundraisers, and our GEM days. Students have the opportunity to share and discuss ideas with the Student Voice Leaders who will then take it to our Leadership team. Our main goal is to explore how we can continue to increase student voice across Overport Primary School.

Student Health Ambassadors

In partnership with Peninsula Health, The Student Health Ambassador program was implemented into our student leadership program in 2019.
The Student Health Ambassadors are a team of year 6 students who have a strong passion for health and wellbeing and want to continue to develop healthy choices at Overport Primary School. The goal of the Student Health Ambassador team is to build a healthy school culture and make healthy choices the easiest choice in our school by using their voice and leadership.
The students organise and promote various fundraising and whole school events throughout the year. These range from Crazy Hair Day for the World’s Greatest Shave, PJ Day for Asthma Foundation, GEM days, Play is the Way activities, Bullying No Way Day, running lunchtime clubs, and being a Happy Helpers in the yard. They also use their voice in a positive way, with the Respectful Relationships program to educate their peers and the school community about the importance and benefits of a healthy school environment.
At the end of 2019, Overport Primary School was awarded the ‘Movers and Shakers’ award from Peninsula Health on the students’ efforts on making a positive change within the school environment. Also, during 2019, Overport became an accredited mental health awareness school through the Achievement Program. During 2021-2022, we updated our accreditation as a SunSmart school. This year, our Student Health Ambassadors are working towards becoming accredited in physical activity and movement benchmark. We are proud of the positive impact this leadership program has had on our students and the wider community and we are very excited to continue this initiative with Peninsula Health.
