Student Voice LeadersThis year as a school, we have decided to change our Student Representative Council to ‘Student Voice’ Leaders. We currently have 2 students from year levels 2-5 who support our Student Health Ambassadors. These students assist with organising school events, fundraisers and our GEM days. Our Student Voice Leaders are respected students who demonstrate our school values daily and regularly assist their peers. Students have the opportunity to share and discuss ideas with the Student Voice Leaders who will then take it to our Leadership team. Our main goal is to explore how we can continue to increase student voice across Overport Primary School.

Student Health AmbassadorsThe Student Health Ambassador program is developed by Peninsula Health and we implemented it into our student leadership in 2019.
The Student Health Ambassadors are a team of year 6 students who have a strong passion for health and wellbeing and want to continue to develop healthy choices at Overport Primary School. The goal of the Student Health Ambassador team is to build a healthy school culture and make healthy choices the easiest choice in our school by using their voice and leadership. The students organise and promote various fundraising and whole school events throughout the year. These range from Crazy Hair Day for the World’s Greatest Shave, PJ Day for Asthma Foundation, GEM days, Play is the Way activities, Bullying No Way Day, running lunchtime clubs, and being a Happy Helpers in the yard. They also use their voice in a positive way, with the Resilience Project to educate their peers and the school community about the importance and benefits of a healthy school environment. At the end of 2019, Overport Primary School was awarded the ‘Movers and Shakers’ award from Peninsula Health on the students efforts on making a positive change within the school environment. The school also became an accredited mental health awareness school. 2019 was an exceptional year of implementing the Student Health Ambassador Program and we are very excited to continue the leadership program throughout 2020 and future years. |
